Pokemon GO received a performance-enhancing update earlier today, and like most updates for Niantic’s popular mobile game, it has since been analyzed by dataminers. Besides some evidence that Niantic is laying the foundation for the introduction of third generation Pokemon, dataminers have also discovered 3D assets for a new shiny Pokemon.
Niantic has apparently added a 3D model of a shiny Cleffa to Pokemon GO with the latest update. However, shiny Cleffa doesn’t appear to be out in the wild just yet, so anyone hoping to add the rare Pokemon to their collection will have to wait for a future update.
As to when shiny Cleffa will be added to Pokemon GO, that’s hard to say. Past datamining efforts have uncovered evidence of shiny legendaries, as well as shiny variants for Pokemon that haven’t even been added to the game yet. Since we haven’t seen any of those shiny Pokemon added to the game, shiny Cleffa may still be months away.
Shiny Cleffa wasn’t the only thing of interest dataminers discovered in the latest Pokemon GO update. As previously stated, dataminers also found evidence that Niantic is further laying the foundation for third generation Pokemon. The latest update added moves that weren’t introduced to the franchise until Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, so it seems as though Niantic is on track to add more third generation Pokemon in December as previously announced.
It’s been suggested that Niantic will add third generation Pokemon to Pokemon GO slowly and in waves, perhaps as a way to keep players more engaged with the game throughout the year. However, Niantic still hasn’t shared concrete details on third generation Pokemon in Pokemon GO, so we don’t know which will be added first or when we will start seeing them in the game.
Regardless of when third generation Pokemon and shiny Cleffa are added to Pokemon GO, at least the latest datamining efforts have shown that Niantic is indeed working on bringing them to the game at some point in the future. In the meantime, fans will just have to participate in the current Global Catch Challenge to help pass the time.
Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
