Destiny 2: 3-Player Team Beats Gauntlet Challenge

Since earning World’s First in the Prestige Leviathan Raid, Destiny 2 clan Redeem has been on a tear, completing any and every challenge that they can. Just recently, two members of the clan were able to beat Calus in a single damage phase and now three members are back to accomplish something even more impressive.

Their latest Destiny 2 feat involves beating the Leviathan’s Gauntlet encounter while also completing this week’s challenge. It requires a lot of moving pieces and planning, but Clan Redeem got it done.

For those that might not be familiar with the Gauntlet Challenge, it requires assigned jobs for every fireteam member and one player cannot do multiple jobs. When there are only three players in the Gauntlet encounter, failing the challenge isn’t much of an issue, but getting it done is still difficult.

Essentially, the strategy that Clan Redeem developed revolves around using a Hunter’s tripmine grenade and having the two runners join up inside the Gauntlet. Since the player shooting the arrows needs to move quickly, he doesn’t have time to go down and melee the Psion before moving to the next plate. That’s where the tripmine comes in; it can kill the Psion as soon as it spawns. On top of that, the runners can place tripmines ahead of time to kill other Psions early on in the running phase.

Below, you can see the view points of one of the runners and the platform holder in order to see how it all comes together.

The fact that these players were able to use the mechanics of Destiny 2 to complete the Gauntlet is an achievement in and of itself, but getting the challenge done makes the feat all the more impressive. Raid challenges typically revolve around using overpowered weapons or exploits to complete the encounter, but these three players stuck to the rules of the Gauntlet and executed flawlessly.

Not to be outdone, Clan Redeem is already working on a two-man run of the Pleasure Gardens on Prestige. It’s another challenge that seems impossible, but with careful planning and perfect execution, it certainly can be done.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
